ABOUT ME

My name is Sharen and this is to document the truth (the whole truth) about my life.  It all started about a year ago when every fiber of my being was screaming out to run like hell from what everyone around me was doing.  Sadly, all I mean by that is that one by one everyone I knew started settling down – moving in together, getting engaged, getting marriage, buying a house, having babies or some combination of all those things at once.  In all fairness, I had already been down that road and have now spent a good course of the last year rectifying the situation but more on that later.

To the ordinary person it may look like I’ve lost direction of my life and have started going in reverse.  I say this as I’ve been heavily questioned about what the hell I’m doing.  My favourite thing to tell people is that I’m jumping head first into the rabbit hole to see what interesting adventures come my way.  I have no real plan other packing everything that I have left in a suitcase or two and make my way to the other side of the world.  After much thought, I decided its time to head to New Zealand.

Fast forward my life a year and a half and it turns out that New Zealand just wasn’t enough and I’ve made the decision to keep going to see what kind of crazy I attract this time around.  It looks like the next country I’ll be living in is Ireland.  Why Ireland?  Let’s just say that it was always in the cards…well according to my friends when they were helping me decide where to go the last time.  No regrets…no surprises – just a whole lot of mystery of will happen during this next chapter of my life.

  1. Hi, how are you?
We have found your blog and think that it is really interesting!
You know that FITUR 2014, the International Tourism Trade Fair, has launched its “TRAVEL BLOGGER 2014” Competition, which this year will extend its search for the best bloggers from amongst candidates on the American Continent and throughout the European Union.
Those who are interested in taking part in the Competition can enter their candidacy between 4th and 26th November through the app integrated into the FITUR page, http://travelblogger.es/en/2014/ . In order to be able to pass through to the following stage, the blogger must obtain at least 50 votes through Facebook or Twitter throughout the same period.
In order to take part, contestants simply need to be of adult age and possess legal residence in any country throughout the American Continent or the European Union (except for Spain, given that another series of initiatives has been reserved for Spanish bloggers that the trade fair will be announcing shortly).
    We are waiting for you!
Have a nice day and smile more! 😉

  3. Hey Sharen! I saw you left a comment on the Daily Post Page on Expat blogs — it’s great to read your work! I have many happy memories living in Galway and Dublin, so I hope you love the craic over there. I look forward to reading more of your stuff. Keep it up!

  4. Hi Sharen, I wish I’d blogged my expat experience as you have. I’m coming up to the repatriate stage – reason enough to venture into blogging. Your expertise in the area will be helpful, not to mention interesting.

    • Hi Juli! Yes, that’s definitely a great reason to start blogging as I’m sure you’ll have some great stories from all your experiences. Can’t wait to read all about it. I started my blog mainly for a small group of friends and has turned into much more than that now. I hope you enjoy blogging as much as I have!

Hi! Love your blog! I live in Vancouver and am thinking of moving to the UK. What do you do there for a living? Which field are you in?

    • Hi Amber! Thank you for reading my blog and I’m glad you’re enjoying it. I would highly encourage a move to the UK – even if its just a temporary adventure as hands down, it’ll be one of the most amazing things you’ve ever done. As for myself, I work in Digital Advertising and have so for years on end in Canada, New Zealand, and now in Ireland. I’m currently heading up operations at an ad network but have worked in several different sides of the business and its my experience that allows me to secure work as easily as I have. Hope you decide to make the move but if you have any questions, feel free to reach out 🙂

  6. Hello Sharen!

Thanks to Leslie at Bucket List we came across your work and liked it.

We’d like to invite you to write some articles for us to enhance both you and your blog’s reputation as well as promoting you as a writer.
