As the bank holiday weekend was quickly approaching, I was struggling to find an affordable way to get the hell out of dodge. Eventually, I gave up on the idea of air travel and decided to give the sail/rail deal a whirl. After all, it was dirt cheap and I liked the romantic notion of hitting the high seas before sitting back and relaxing while the Welsh countryside whizzed by me. Sadly, I think I’ve been watching too many historical dramas (damn you Downton Abbey!!!) as my expectations and reality turned out to be two very different things.
All the notions I had about how fun it would be to hit the high seas quickly disappeared as I sat ever so quietly in my seat and desperately tried to avoid vomiting on my Aussie mate as our ferry…
